Daily recaps:
Monday and tuesday seem like forever ago and I honestly don't really remember what the heck we did!
Wednesday, August 1 was Swiss National day. My family was on "holiday" all week so I just kept the boys in the morning while the parents relaxed and rested. I decided to make tie dye cupcakes for fun and to celebrate the day...the boys thought they were so cool, until they tried them, which they then spit out...I reassured them that they were just vanilla cupcakes with food coloring in them, but they had convinced themselves otherwise. My friend Savannah and I ate almost all of them. Oh well, now I know not to make them again for the boys :) We enjoyed the afternoon around the pool and then a nice dinner, with the most delicious dessert I have ever had. Around 10 we headed down the street to that really cute village I talked about previously called, Hermance. Everyone in that village and a few others gather at the beach and shoot off their personal fireworks, but it's nice because you get to watch every one's. There are tents with food, drinks, and music set up around the beach. Michael Jackson seemed to be a theme for the music that night (Bekah Biles would've loved it ). The other nice thing about being down there was that you could see the rest of the lake back towards the center of the city and all the other village's huge firework displays. The old tradition before fireworks, was that each village had a big bonfire and everyone stood around it together and sang the national hymns. They still build the bonfire in this village, but I'm not sure about the others, so that was neat to see a little bit of history. I face-timed with some friends at 2 am which was late, but fun...again I love technology!
Thursday afternoon the family and I went down to the "fair/carnival/festival" I don't know what to call it. Probably not a fair, because there aren't any animals, which is sad for me, no little piggies. I rode all the rides with the oldest boy and it was a blast. I almost lost my lunch on one of them, Yikes! That night I babysat for one of their family friends. It was nice to make a little extra money as well as get to know some other kids, and give their parents a nice night out. It was the most quiet babysitting experience of my life, due to the fact that they don't speak english. I used the few words I knew, and then had to break out my french phrase book, which is slightly pathetic! But we made it, and I hope to do it again soon especially after I start french classes.
I had the day off on Friday. I went on my first day trip to a nearby city called Montreaux. Savannah and I left around 2 and hopped a 45 minute train ride up the lake. Our main focus was to see the castle on the lake called Chalet de Chillon, it was a 45-1 hour walk from the train station, but we walked along the lake and it was absolutely breathtaking. I could not believe I was in a real castle, pardon me chalet. The architecture is incredible, and I can't quite wrap my head around how they built something so beautiful so long ago. I hope to spend more time in Montreaux since it is so close and see more of the town. Friday night we headed down to the "fete" to ride more rides and meet up with some people. We went to this really nice club and there was a surprise DJ that no one knew about... Will i am! It was awesome.
I have had requests for me in pictures, won't happen often though! Solo shot by the lake and in the back left is the castle@

Will I Am
Saturday was just a chill day, I was pretty bummed all day though. It was move in day at the Pi Phi house and for the first time in 4 years I wasn't packing my life and moving into a tiny little room with a new fun person. I know it is time to move on, but I sure do miss it. I can't explain the impact that experience had on my life. I shouldn't complain too much, I'm living in freaking Switzerland and getting to hang out with 2 kids and travel. I did play a little prank from 5000 miles away and that always lifts my spirits! I skyped with gilly, and she took me around the pi phi house to say hello to everyone and see the changes, it was a blast and I'm sure it won't be the last. They can't get rid of me just yet!
I worked on Sunday morning and spent the afternoon watching the Olympics and planning my trip next week. We had a little watch-party at the house to support the very famous swiss tennis player, Roger Federer. We were all in red and white and glued to the TV. It was sad to see him lose but a fun experience. It rained all afternoon, so again I just lounged, cleaned up my room and did a little organizing. Later on I headed down to meet up with Savannah and Carsey at the fete again. Savannah had been going on and on about this food truck with mexican food, so I thought I'd try it out. She had it for the 5th time this week and now I know why. It was amazing, maybe not compared to back home, but in comparison to some of the other food here, it was pretty stinking good. I had a chicken taco and then a little cheese quesadilla. Yum! In the middle of dinner a huge storm arrived, and when I say storm, I mean it. Sideways rain, wind, thunder and lightning all as we were sittin under a tiny tent eating dinner. Fortunately I was prepared, but only because I was in my normal garb ( nike shorts, tshirt, chacos) and I happened to grab a rain jacket on the way out! I was set..my friends were not. We were headed to the bus stop to go back to Savannah's house when I remembered that there was a band playing that I wanted to see. The Earth, Wind, and Fire Experience with one of the original band members. It was storming hard, but I wasn't leaving and I am so glad I didn't. Carsey and I stayed behind to see the show. We were very close to the front which made for some great people watching and a great view of "the experience". The band was hilarious, they had choreographed dance moves and everything. Even sequin shirts! It was so much fun. They didn't play the top hits until the end, but I just couldn't leave until I heard "September" even if it was pouring. And then it came on! I went nuts, unfortunately my phone ran out of memory so I only have a short video :( and you can only hear me singing, which is awful. They left and of course came back out for an encore and played "boogie wonderland" and "let's groove tonight". I am so glad I went and it is definitely high up on the list of most fun things I've done here so far.

Well, that's a wrap for this week, thanks everyone for your sweet words of encouragement and for following me on my adventures
Lots of love,
your swiss miss.
